So I felt I had to write a post about this place since it is literally my favorite place to get a massage, in all of New York City. Let me preface this with the fact that I have had A LOT of massages in my life, many of which were at fancy spas as Birthday or Christmas gifts, however none of them ever wowed me. Although they were great massages, I never left thinking, that was worth it.
Until now. Enter Taiji Bodywork, which conveniently for me opened 1 block my apartment on St.Marks and 2nd Ave. I first saw the sign that said "Full body massage, $39/hour" and knew that I had to try it. The place itsself is no frills. The rooms are separated by curtains and there is no cucumber infused water, or fancy bathrobes. You can call ahead and let them know your coming, or you can also just walk in. I have never had to wait more than 20 minutes. The tables are clean and covered with fresh smelling towels and sheets, and they use a nice massage oil during your session. The massage was ahhhhmazing. The best one I have ever gotten, ever. She really got into all the knots and worked them out without hurting me. I actually think she may have gotten on the table at one point. You also get a hot stone treatment with your massage, which includes hot stones being rubbed up and down your back and legs.
At the end of the service you put your clothes back on, walk out of your "room" and pay your total with cash or card (card is a couple dollars more because of the fee) and give your tip. They give you a little cup of water and have a bowl of free tootsie rolls too, if thats your kinda thing.
I have already convinced a few friends to go and check it, and none have been disappointed (oh hey Sarah, Alyvia & Emily). I try to go at least once a week, even if it is just for a foot reflexology (which is only $28 dollars an hour!) I find it is really great for my muscles since I generally work out every day of the week. Here is the info below and I encourage you to go check it out!
