Toner is something that I use every single night after I shower. I feel that it really tightens my pores and gets rid of any lingering makeup that my face wash neglected to remove. I have four favorite toners that each serve a different purpose, but are all staples none the less. Products are mentioned from left to right.
TO FEEL CLEAN: Kiehl's Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion has been one of my favorite toners lately because of how clean your skin feels after you use it. There is alcohol in this toner, so I always make sure to put a lot of moisturizer on my skin afterward so that it does not dry out. Although this bottle is $18, it will last you around three to four months if you use it every day!
TO GET RID OF ACNE: Desert Essence is a little gem I found scouring the beauty aisles at Whole Foods for tea tree oil. Most tea tree oils are too strong to apply directly to your skin, however this particular toner is diluted, so there is only 20% of pure tea tree oil mixed with other hydrating ingredients. This makes the toner a little more bearable when it comes to applying it to breakouts. I also swear by tea tree oil when it comes to those obnoxious pimples that can ruin your day. This bottle runs about $9 at Whole Foods.
TO HYDRATE: Vichy Purete Thermale Hydra-Perfecting Toner is a toner that I recently impulse bought at Duane Reade the other day. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. It is one of best smelling toners out there. There is no alcohol in this toner so it is perfect option for those of you who have very thirsty skin. This bottle is a little more expensive ($18) but totally worth it.
TO CALM: Thayer Lavender Witch Hazel is one of the most gentle and soothing toners that I have tried of the bunch. Its lavender scent is very relaxing and makes your skin feel very soft, without dehydrating it. This bottle runs about $10 on Amazon and at Whole Foods.
