I never knew what horchata was until I started dating Cris. Now, I am obsessed with this rice milk & cinnamon concoction. When I read a review of Horchata in the West Village, I knew I had to go and check it out to see if their version of this Mexican drink lived up to their name. To start, we got the Guacamole which was delicious, but the dish that I was most impressed with was the Elote, which is corn on the cob with chipotle mayo, cotija cheese, and chile. It was UNBELIEVABLE, and probably one of the best corn dishes I have at any Mexican restaurant, ever.
Now, on to the Horchata,
aka the whole reason we went there.
This place had several types to choose from:
- Classic // Almond, Rice and Mexican Cinnamon
- Pick Me Up // Classic Horchata & Espresso
- Drunken // Classic Horchata & Rum
- Blues Clues // Classic Horchata, Rum, Orange, Pineapple, Curacao Liqueur, & Lime
- The Funky Monkey // Classic Horchata, Rum, Stoli Vanilla, and Kahlua
We decided to go with the classic which is a combination of almonds, rice, and Mexican cinnamon. It was VERY good, and came close to my ALL TIME FAVORITE Venezuelan version of Horchata at Valencia Luncheria in my hometown. Needless to say I am planning to go back to this place for a nice brunch and to try out the more alcoholic Horchata's.
This place also has amazing branding and I absolutely LOVE their website, so check it out!
